WASHI/ JAPANESE PAPER 2014
Fine washi
Washi that strives towards perfection. The fibres are fine; the layer is thin. A fragment of a large sheet approximately 35 in x 50 in.
Fibre in washi
A natural placement of unrefined fibre in a playful experiment …
Incredibly thin washi
Washi so thin that the scene beyond is easily seen.
41.11.0
A performance where the precious handmade paper kimono is destroyed. The daily ritual of drinking water is subverted in this piece to take away rather than give life. Every single moment is permeated by impermanence.
torn Kimono
Remnants
Shadows of incessant dissipation
Autumn leaf in washi
An autumn leaf encased in between two very thin layers of washi. Sunlight shines through all the layers to reveal the striking colors.
Transparent washi
Autumn leaf, same as above, with a transparent layer of washi on it, and ten sheets of washi beneath it. All yet to be dried.
